Friday Night on Capitola Lawn Way
To start off the night, head across the street to Caruso’s Italian Restaurant, a tiny, romantic restaurant with authentic Italian cuisine. Get a couple of dishes and a bottle of wine to share at this lively yet intimate spot. You won’t be disappointed with the gnocchi italia, potato dumplings with 3 different sauces. Next head to the Sand Bar for live music and an after dinner cocktail. When you need a break from the band, head to the outdoor balcony for some fresh air. You’ll get a beautiful view of the village’s lights twinkling on the water.
Call it an early night and head back to your cozy Captiola Lawn Way Cottage. Maybe take a bath before turning in early.
Saturday on Capitola Lawn Way
The next morning, get woken up by the sound of waves gently breaking. Roll out of your comfy bed and head straight to the beach. There’s nothing like gazing out at the calm water in the early morning before the crowds arrive. With coffee in hand, walk the 30 second stroll to the sand. Take your time walking along the shore, make your way under the Capitola Wharf and then up to the cliffs above for some spectacular views of Capitola.
If you’re feeling extra motivated by the ocean air, head up the Depot Hill stairs and along the Capitola Bluffs. Zig zag through the beautiful homes on Depot Hill and take the secret path through the trees behind Monarch Cove Inn. The path runs parallel to Park Ave and leads to New Brighton Beach in Aptos. It offers some of the most breathtaking glimpses of the Monterey Bay, so breathtaking in fact that words or photos won’t do it justice, you’ll have to go see it for yourself. An Afternoon at Capitola Beach
When you return back to the village, refuel with a breakfast at Zelda’s on the water, right around the corner from your home at Capitola Lawn Way Cottage. After you’ve digested, hit the beach! Don’t forget to take some snacks from Castagnola Deli to munch on. Find a spot on the sand and settle in for an afternoon of relaxation. For some fun and adventure, look into surf lessons or stand up paddle board lessons at Capitola Beach Co. They offer great lessons for beginners!
Then, when you’ve had enough sun, it’s time to rehydrate! Explore the many wine bars in the area and try some great local wines. There are plenty of places to get a drink; Armida Winery, Capitola Wine Bar (located steps from the beach house) and Cork and Fork to name a few. Sober up with some plates to share and an ocean view at Paradise Beach Grille.
Sunday on Capitola Lawn Way Cottage
Sleep in! It’s Sunday and you’re on vacation! Take your time getting out of bed and when you’re ready, leisurely make pancakes in your fully equipped kitchen at Capitola Lawn Way Cottage. Then, go for a beautiful hike in the trees at the nearby Forest of Nisene Marks in Aptos to work off your breakfast. On your way home stop at Gayle’s Bakery to prepare for a Sunday afternoon Lawn Way picnic with friends.
Grab all the goodies that call out to you at Gayle’s Bakery. It’s always good to choose a a lot of variety, and don’t forget dessert! Perhaps a Raspberry Napoleon or a small Princess Cake. When you’ve lugged the goods back to Lawn Way, lay out your blanket and spread out the food! It’s all about presentation so make sure you’ve got it set up in a way to make the passers-by jealous of your fun. Open a bottle of wine, pour a couple of glasses and get to enjoying your picnic with friends. Spend hours on the lawn eating, sipping wine and laughing… a lot.
