Best Breweries in and around Santa Cruz!

Capitola and Santa Cruz have always been known to have great places to do excellent wine tastings with wine tastings rooms popping up all over the place! For those of you who prefer a nice cold beer to a glass of wine, check out one (or more) of the following breweries in the Santa Cruz and surrounding areas to treat yourself to a cold one!

Santa Cruz Breweries

Humble Sea Brewing Company

Located on the West Side of Santa Cruz off of Swift Street, check out this new brewery with a great outdoor (and pet friendly) patio! Humble Sea Brewing Company is a craft brewery in Santa Cruz, established by three long-term buddies focused on making the world just a little bit better through beer. We’re composed of some amazing brewers, a front-of-the-house guru, an artsy kid that “designs” for us, and the most incredible beertenders in the history of the planet.

Santa Cruz Mountain Brewery

This is a classic brewery. Located on the west side of Santa Cruz in the Swift Street Courtyard this place does not disappoint. They have something for everyone, so choose between a handful of wildly innovative (and delicious) seasonal beers, hard ciders, draught root beer, and even Kombucha. There’s definitely something brewing to please everyone in your group. They even open up their courtyard to Movies on Mondays! Great events to check out at this great find!

Lupulo Craft Beer House

Located in downtown Santa Cruz (right next to Hula’s and 515 Kitchen), here you can find a wide selection of beers on tap or go for a bottle to try in house or take home with you! Pair a great brew with a tasty tapa off their delicious menu of options and you won’t want to leave!

East Cliff Brewing Company

Located off East Cliff Drive in the East Cliff Shopping Center. East Cliff Brewing Company produces distinctive British style ales, complementing the wide ranging locally brewed beer styles readily available from Santa Cruz’s growing and vibrant craft brewing community. Specifically, we focus on crafting balanced session ales based on the multitude of styles of the British Isles, conditioning and serving them in our taproom in authentic, traditional cask (not keg) fashion.

New Bohemia Brewing

Located off 41st Avenue, New Bohemia Brewing Co (aka NuBo) is a Santa Cruz, CA based brewery specializing in European-style craft lagers and creative ales. We are inspired by the deep beer traditions of the Old World even as we embrace the creative and subversive spirit permeating Northern California. Live Music on Friday and Saturday nights!

Breweries in the Surrounding Areas of Santa Cruz

Corralitos Brewing Co.

Located in Corralitos, CA (off the Freedom Blvd exit on Highway 1 heading past Aptos), they brew & pour their own hand-crafted ales. Visit their friendly new taproom & experience what the buzz is all about!

Discretion Brewery

Located in Soquel, next to Cafe Cruz on the north side of 41st Avenue, the vibe and architecture of Discretion is hip, relaxing and unique all at the same time. With live music throughout the week and delicious food options to go with your choice of refreshing brews, you can even bring your dog with you on their patio. Did you know that they are the 1st solar powered brewery in Santa Cruz County? Well now you know!

Sante Adairius Rustic Ales

This place is very cool! If you are a beer aficionado, you will become obsessed with this great little spot located off the beaten path in Capitola. Founded on respect for quality and authenticity, they are in business in creating a beer you will not forget. Check it out!

Beer Thirty

Located in Soquel off of Main Street (next to Carpo’s Restaurant). This is another one of my go to spots for a great beer. It’s a great spot to take a visitor to enjoy the fun ambiance. There is a WIDE selection of bottled beers (and other non-alcoholic bottled beverages) in their glass-cased refrigerators in addition to their selective beers on tap. Sit inside on a bar stool and chat with your friends about how great your beer selection is or sit with your dog outside on a picnic table!

Beer Thirty

These are all great places to try and it’s hard to find a favorite because they all specialize and create a unique experience for you to enjoy and share! So pick a brewery and let me know what you think!
